The focus and thrust of the government towards social inclusion and upliftment of society via targeting and supporting development activities at the lowest social strata through education resulted with a broader vision of professional courses like Tourism and Journalism offered in our college. Education is an important instrument that can garner and nurture the youth into an employable workforce and responsible citizens serving the country in various capacities. Professional degrees and courses are the need of the present hour to build an employable youth and hone the talents of the youth in their chosen field.
With keeping in view the sustainable development goals and the importance of higher education as a leveraging tool, the government of Uttarakhand initiated and introduced popular professional course like tourism, journalism, B. B. A. and B.C.A, with distinctiveness. These courses have the potential to groom the youth into an employable workforce that makes invaluable contribution as skilled workforce that meets the industry’s need are preferred to those having a regular degree. Professional qualification provides students with much better chances of getting a specific job. Students are trained and given exposure to specific skills and abilities required in that profession for which he/she aspires to build their career. All these courses are run with nominal fee structure so that the students coming from lower income brackets and living in the hilly areas have access and opportunity to enroll themselves as employable workforce. Straight after earning their degrees, the students of these programs may get the opportunity to join their respective fields and start earning and add to the bandwagon of skilled taskforce. The college takes pride in announcing that the fees in which these courses are offered is the lowest not only in India but internationally as well. Under graduate program in Tourism management (B.A.T.M) in Uttarakhand was initially introduced in our college in 2016. Provision is made for training, field visit and placement. Our tourism students are our pride in entrepreneurship and seeking jobs in Grand Hyaat, Goa and in different other organisations. The outcomes of tourism course are significant and despite resource crunch, we have provided quality education to hone the latent talent of budding tourism professionals. Artificial Rock-Climbing wall is constructed in College, which is first of its’ kind in North India in Government Colleges. Dharmanand Uniyal Government Degree College Narendranagar becomes the first Government College where an undergraduate course entitled B.A (Honours) in Journalism & Mass Communication is introduced in regular mode. Another uniqueness of the program is that in the whole of North India our college is offering this course with a minimal fee structure for the sake of the students who belong to lower income brackets and are dwelling in semi urban and rural tribal areas. Beginning with its founder batch in 2017, today the students have joined the media world in various capacities. During the semester breaks and after completing the course many students take up internships where they learn the finer points and gain experience of the field. Despite the financial challenges and resource constraints, the students are able to showcase their mantle and caliber in the field and are doing good work. Bachelors of Business Administration program started off in 2022 is committed to create global management professionals based on the needs of Indian and international industries. BBA graduates have high scope in various business/ industries with lucrative pay since this program has a greater impact on their growth. The program also enriches the leadership and entrepreneurship qualities of the learners. This course is designed to provide a basic understanding of management with inculcation of decision making, entrepreneurship skills and also train the students in communication skills effectively. The students are having ample opportunities to become an employer or employee in the areas of banking, education, marketing, consultancy, export, insurance and other manufacturing and service sectors. The curriculum tries to implement the contemporary managerial skills which are required in the industry. The curriculum focuses on management subjects related to entrepreneurship, leadership, marketing, HR, operations, finances, communication, and organizational behavior and even in the areas of business values and ethics. It enables the students to think systematically and manage intelligently in the affairs related to business, governance and organization. This curriculum is a perfect blend of management theory and its effective practices through institution training, projects and Industrial Visits. BBA program is designed to provide a clear understanding of business oriented concepts. The program prepares the students to meet the challenges of industry. Commencing in 2022, the Bachelor in Computer Applications program, at its nascent stage, is in line with the demands of the IT sector. The program focuses on subjects such as programming, operating systems, software engineering, web designing, databases, net technologies  and computer networks. The programme provides excellent technical and analytical skills for careers in the IT industry or to pursue further studies under programmes such as MCA / MSc(IT) / MBA  etc. The programme is designed to produce computer professionals possessing excellent programming knowledge with good managerial skills. Students will be trained with a view of holding positions such as: System Analyst, System Designers, Programmers, Database Administrators, Software Test Engineers and Network Engineers. There is a growing need for qualified computer engineers and a BCA can help students create a multi-faceted career in the industry and can be employed in these sectors: healthcare, IT, finance, trading, transportation, software, and education. Computer engineers are some of the highest paid professionals today. After receiving a BCA degree students can be among the top most well paid fresher in the industry with a lucrative base salary.
